Trust? >>>

Trust is earned - not easily obtained. Yet, it is easily lost. One of the horrible things in life. MCSA certification doesn't mean anything to me. (FYI, mine is the very old syllabus) In my opinion, trust is the deciding factor on who can and will be an OUTSTANDING system administrator. I don't really do administration much. I don't enjoy doing it either. For a member of an admin, passwords are really important. The whole integrity of a system, and subsequently the organization, is hinged on that few characters that you memorized. Passwords are like virginity. You don't go around giving them to anybody that you like. Even saying it very quickly - without the intention of the other party hearing it is like losing your virginity to a prostitute. Intentionally or not, breach of trust is evident even in thought. Just THINKING about doing something that compromises the integrity of the system IS ALREADY a breech of trust. However, nobody can read your mind. Fine. But the thing is as long as the password is divulged (regardless of whether people actually GOT what the password was) is a clear breach of trust. It just says this: The password you gave me is worth nothing. I don't treasure it at all.

I have never given anybody passwords before. Regardless of the situation. If there is something that needs to be done, I will do it myself. At best, it is my duty to ensure that IF i help somebody login, he logs out promptly as soon as he does not need the access. Yes, I may have failed on that note. Fine. Perhaps I trust people too much. And it may be my greatest mistake to trust people unworthy about it. Complacent and childish people who lack the right attitude. Talk about ... gentleman and bilingual scholar of HIGH INTEGRITY and ... ...

Anyway, back to the topic. I came for the camp for only 1 reason. Infocomm Club. If not for Infocomm club, why do I want to burn my holidays? Let me just narrate the sequence of events. I came on Tuesday, 8th of september. I came early. About 7 plus, to help my brother, Jing Yew, Julian, Nicholas, et al with their CL oral. I don't really think I was of that much help. Anyway, I started to see the 1st ICC group at about 8am. This was dao shen and guan shun's group. They were earlier than expected and I had only just arrived too. I didnt have time to setup beforehand, so I had to set them some stuff to do, and I continued cleaning up and preparing the mac lab for my conducive use. My sincerest apologies to that group, because I couldn't devote my 100% attention to them for the earlier part of the session. If you happen to be reading this, please forgive me. (Though to my surprise, that group proved to be the most productive of all. GOOD JOB GUYS!) Anyway, I spent over an hour packing the place, sweeping the floor and stuff, so that it would be conducive for (READ) the INFOCOMM CLUB GUYS Later that day, the SGCC people came back. They used the mac lab. Fine. Competition anyway. Besides, I'm an alumni of Nucleii so I have their interests at heart too. However, they also brought with them their laptops and everything, including FOOD and DRINK. After they left, I CLEARED UP A COUPLE OF DRINK AND FOOD PACKETS. I had to do it. WHAT THE HELL.

I was seriously pissed. I can only emphasize that the primary reasons why I was there was cos of the ICC guys. So since there was a camp, I just stayed over. That's about it. I can be leaving my terminal on for a while, when I come back, a certain person (with 3 letters of his name matching mine) was at the terminal, and closed MY SOUNDTRACK PROJECT FILE w/o saving. Oh joy. Just lost like a few hours of work.

Nevermind, the following night, people can be there doing stuff they are not supposed to be doing, and without permission. Some idiots had so little cow sense that they didnt know how to plug out the lan cable. THAT COULD SPELL SERIOUS TROUBLE! Anyway, I seriously cannot tolerate people who take things/other people for granted. I really really hate it.
